The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) is pleased to announce that the board has appointed Professor Joy Merrell, PhD, MSc, RGN, RHV, to serve as the Europe regional coordinator. She will begin her term immediately and serve until elections at the next House of Delegates meeting during STTI's 43rd Biennial Convention in November 2015. Joy is a founder member and past President of our Chapter.

Professor Merrell is replacing Thóra B. Hafsteinsdóttir, PhD, RN, who has been appointed to the international board of directors as a director.

We would like to give Joy and Thóra our very best wishes as they take up their new roles, and thank Thóra for all her work for the region up to now. 

On Saturday 26th July Professor Brendan McCormack from Phi Mu Chapter (England) was inducted into the Nurse Researcher Hall of Fame at the International Research Congress in Hong Kong.

Brendan is Head of Nursing and Professor of Nursing Research at Queen Margaret University, Edinburgh. His writing and research work focuses on person centred practice, gerontological nursing, and practice development and he has a particular focus on the use of arts and creativity in healthcare research and development. Brendan also delivered the Nurses’ Day VC lecture for the European Region this year.

We would like to offer our warmest congratulations to Brendan.
